6 WAYS TO STAND OUT AS A YOGA TEACHER

Wondering where to start when building your yoga teaching career??

Maybe you're thinking, how you're ever going to make it work when the industry seems over saturated, so much competition and you're only just getting started? Ekkk cue overwhelm. 🤯

This alone can be enough to stop you in your tracks sinking into imposter syndrome, procrastination station and/or teaching avoidance.  I’ve seen it too many times with teachers I have mentored and I know as I've been there too. 🤯

The good news is that the yoga industry and market is booming and there is a whole world out there including your very own community waiting for you to come to teach them. Hip hooray!!

Now if you're here, I’m guessing that you did your yoga teacher training because you love yoga and it’s helped you in your life in some way? And you want to now help others to feel the same? A great place to start...

So what is required from you is for you to step forward, to take action, to develop your confidence, your teaching skills and your yoga business so you can show up to shine your light and be of service and help to the people that need you sharing your gifts and the teachings of yoga.

To get you started here are 6 ways you can stand out as a yoga teacher & be ahead of the curb to be able to make your teaching career a success.

1. Find your Authentic voice

Find what you're inspired to share. Get clear on your why. This is a fundamental element in your teaching journey that will mean that you are stepping forward as yourSelf, from your heart with clear direction and intention.

2. Get clear on your vision

Create a timeline & think about the bigger picture. Who do you want to serve? What difference do you want to make? What do you want your career to look like? Create a vision that you are inspired by and that you will be jumping out of bed for in the morning.

3. build & nurture your community

A big part of being a successful teacher is building and nurturing your very own community. This starts with connecting to your students as they arrive, usher them into class and then be available for them after the class to answer any questions. This means you will start to get to know your students and they will get to know you and they will feel seen and cared for, so will come back to work with you again and again. Outside of the classroom start to build a mailing list so you can nurture the relationships with your students outside of the classroom.

4. always be the student

Always be learning & sharing this with your students, creating a multi layered experience that is coming from an embodied place. PRIORITISE YOUR OWN PRACTICE!! (I'm shouting as this is the first things to go for new teachers and this will be your greatest source of inspiration and energy with your teaching, I promise you) Learn and explore things that inspire you and help you grow in your own practice and then share that with your students.

5. step outside the box/studio class

Teaching in studios is great for building community and being part of a community but if you want a yoga career that is sustainable, that is financially profitable and that creates bigger impact you need to think outside the box. This could look like workshops, a six week course, online offerings or events. The possibilities are endless, the only limitation is your imagination.

6. get support

Learn from people that are where you want to be. This is a fast track way to level up your teaching & career. This could look like finding a teacher that you admire to mentor you, it could look like joining a mentoring programme or yoga business programme. When I have invested in mentors and coaches myself this is when my progress has skyrocketed forward. Getting support is the fast way to progress that saves you time & ££.
